The original Royal Oak was built in 1822 as an inn and public house. In 1900 the new owners demolished the original structure and constructed the existing building as a station for a railway that never happened! The railway was planned to run between Tarporley and Mouldsworth. The Royal Oak at Kelsall is one of the best gastro pubs with rooms in Cheshire.
