Pub Rooms In the UK, pubs with rooms are not a new thing. In fact, inns in the UK have been welcoming travellers and giving them a warm place to rest since the Roman Empire.
For hundreds of years, pubs have been the heart of British villages, and their four walls have witnessed history unfold.
We love staying in pubs and want to share their stories and keep the centuries-old tradition alive.
Therefore, we run this website to help you find the best British pub stays.
Who We Are
In 2001, we launched Pub Rooms as the first UK guide dedicated to pub accommodation.
25 years on, we’re now based in Brighton and are still connecting travellers with pubs that offer rooms.
Our mission is simple:
- Help you find the perfect pub stay.
- Support pubs across the country with commission-free bookings.
We believe that..
- Pubs have more character and charm than large hotels. We find Beige hotel rooms. A 16th-century pub is anything but generic; it has history, crackling fires, and feels properly different.
- Staying in pubs lets you experience the “real UK”.They feel more social, so you’re more likely to make some great friends while you’re there, have unexpected adventures and get to experience true British culture.
- Pub accommodation is an affordable adventure; often better value than traditional hotels.
- UK pub heritage is beautiful and needs to be protected. This can only be achieved by supporting pubs, which are the soul of their communities.

Our Story So Far..

It all started with Wendy Trahan from Canada, who looking for a pub to stay whilst visiting the Leeds Castle. Wanting something different and off the beaten track, she was surprised how difficult it was to find pub accommodation and pubs to stay in.
Wendy launched the pub-rooms.co.uk website, our directory which makes it easier for people visiting the UK to find pubs to stay.

By 2005 Pub Rooms was seeing over 10,000 visits a week (over 500,000 visitors a year) from travellers all over the world.
In 2007 Wendy handed the reigns of Pub Rooms to Andrew, a talented website designer and owner of thinkcloudstudio.co.uk . He adapted the website and added a dynamic search improving the static website. With it now being dynamic, pubs could update their room details directly.

Despite various Google updates and a nationwide recession, Andrew continued growing Pub Rooms, expanding the number of chain and independent pubs listed while also adding pub function rooms.

Pandemics – Lockdowns, Pubs closed! With worldwide travel bans, social distancing and vaccination passports the UK’s pub and hospitality industry was driven to near bankruptcy. Unfortunately over 2,000 pubs have closed since this period, 400 of which were listed on Pub Rooms.

In early 2025, Andrew handed Pub Room’s keys over to Jamie Womack, who redesigned the site and expanded the number of pubs listed.
He hopes to use the website as a platform to encourage more people to choose pub accommodation over regular hotels to supporting local pubs and protecting the UK’s pub heritage.
